Pleats
Jin Kuramoto designs a small series of trays inspired by his experimental approach to the field. The designer manually explores what a material can become by moulding sculptural shapes. Made from 18/10 stainless steel, Pleats is inspired by the iconic form of the bottle cap, reinterpreting this common object by transforming it into a minimalist, functional and surprising design element. With Pleats, Kuramoto gives shape to a playful yet rigorous aesthetic, featuring an expressive simplicity. The circular pleats are reminiscent of the gesture of the toast, but also the movement of the material: born of the dialogue between Japanese culture and the contemporary spirit, Pleats is not just a tray, but an homage to the art of serving with personality.
